FROM FOUNDING MEMBER TO FUTURE LEADER: ISABELLA LANGFORD, CLASS OF 2022

We spoke to Isabella Langford, WMCD Youth Team Class of 2022, about how her experience with our organization has shaped who she has become.

As one of our founding youth team members, Isabella saw the very beginning of what would become the WMCD we know and love. “My experience with WMCD means the world to me,” she said, reflecting on how her experience has impacted her. “I’ve gained great networking connections and [have] a deeper appreciation for helping others and my community.”

Through the process of picking a name, logo, event theme, and more, Isabella was an integral part of our founding years. And while there was a lot of behind the scenes work, giving back has its fair share of fun too. Thinking back to her favorite memory with WMCD, Isabella recalled dancing with 21 other teens to “Party in the USA” at the first event in 2022. “I still do the moves when the song comes on in the car!” It was one of those moments where, amid the fun, she came to understand how joining together could create a larger impact than doing it all alone.

“Do something that helps others,” she tells current teens, “it makes you feel good knowing you’ve done something for the betterment of the people around you, and the people in need.” Now, four years later, Isabella is getting ready to graduate from Westfield State University and is working with marketing and social media through local internships. As a local student, she’s helped out at our all-nighters each year, and acknowledges the community, empowerment, and love that goes into each event.
