JOIN OUR COMMUNITY OF VOLUNTEERS

WMCD Inc. is a local youth-driven non-profit organization focused on teaching students in grades 6-12 about the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their local community.  WMCD’s student leaders (our Youth Team) work with our adult volunteers all year to plan our events and build relationships with charities that serve residents in the region.  Through the support of community members and businesses, WMCD has raised more than $102,000 for local charity recipients that address food insecurity, grief support, childhood cancer and other worthy causes.

WMCD’s signature annual event is a 25-hour “Charity All-Nighter” for middle and high school students. Students participate in games and activities, plus enjoy great food, music, karaoke, and much more – all to raise money for charity.  Our fifth-annual Charity All-Nighter is coming up on February 27 at 7:00pm through February 28 at 8:00pm (25 hours total).

This event relies on the support of our community to volunteer in a variety of roles! Volunteers are scheduled in 2-hour blocks and are given the flexibility to commit as much time as they’re willing (from 2 hours, up to the full 25 hours for those willing to take the challenge!), and to help in the area you’re most interested in. Depending on your interests, there are several volunteer options:

  • Activity Support: Set up, run, dismantle, and monitor games that students participate in.   There is a lot of student interaction involved in this role, so it’s great for high-energy volunteers!

  • Kitchen: Assist in the preparation and serving of meals for student participants.

  • Decorating: Help assemble decorations in the weeks leading up to the event and/or help put up decorations from 1:00-5:00pm on Friday, February 27th.

  • Security: Help maintain a secure venue by monitoring each entrance/exit and monitor student behavior.

  • Registration: Assist in checking in student participants and volunteers, and help with the check-out process both Friday and Saturday evening.

  • First Aid: Be available to handle minor medical needs (meds, bandages, etc.) and make decisions if further medical attention is needed. Must be licensed in the medical field (e.g., nurse, EMT)

  • Tech Support: Supporting music, lighting, sound systems, etc.

  • Clean Up Crew: Assist in the cleaning of the venue from 8:00-10:00pm on February 28th.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, meet new people and be part of something very special. We hope you will consider donating a few hours of your time to show the local youth how important it is to give back to their community.

Please note: Volunteers must be 18+ years old and are required to complete a CORI background check.
